Throughout history, fine art paintings have been used to reflect religious beliefs. The church commissioned many works to reflect stories from the Holy Bible. Of course, art adorns churches immensely. Religious paintings idealize, glorify, and tell us religious stories. Fine art also is a way to keep religious traditions alive. It helps people understand and visualize a concept or event that might otherwise be difficult to imagine through the use of only words.
